Church History

Write something about your church here.

Beulah Tabernacle Church was founded in October 1960 at 5552 Baltimore Avenue, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, by Bishop Lena Thomas, the founder and overseer of the Gates of Heaven Pentecostal Churches, Inc. Elder Carrie White was appointed as Pastor, and after several years, she left to pursue her ministry in a different area. At that time, the Board members and congregation requested the Bishop to send Elder Calvin J. Thomas, Sr. to become the Pastor. Elder Laura Daise was the Assistant Pastor at that time.

In September 1975, Elder Calvin J. Thomas, Sr., was installed as Pastor. His wife and five children accompanied him to this new ministry. The church expanded in membership and many were saved. The ministry eventually outgrew the building at 5552 Baltimore Avenue. In July , 1992, Beulah Tabernacle purchased the building at 4824 Baltimore Avenue, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Elder Keith Thomas was installed as the new Assistant Pastor in May, 1995 and Elder Daise became Assistant Pastor Emeritus. Elder Calvin Thomas, Sr. served untiringly as Pastor of Beulah Tabernacle for nineteen years until September, 1995 when the Lord called him home after 40 years of ministry. The mantle was then passed to his son, Elder Keith M. Thomas, who was installed as Pastor in November, 1995. Elder Calvin Thomas, Jr. was later installed as the present Assistant Pastor.

In June, 1999, the mortgage on the building was fully paid in less than seven years. In 2000, the Lord led Pastor Thomas to establish PERAZIM as an outreach of the ministry. The name "Perazim" declares God as "the one who breaks through". The building adjacent to the church was purchased to establish the Calvin J. Thomas, Sr. Family Life Center, which was to be a place devoted to the restoration of individuals, families, and community. Under Pastor Thomas' leadership, Beulah Tabernacle continued to grow and prosper physically and spiritually.

After Bishop Lena Thomas went home to be with the Lord, Dr. Maureen Davis became the General Overseer and Presiding Prelate of the Gates of Heaven Assembly of Churches. Pastor Keith was appointed as the Vice President of the organization. During the Holy Convocation in August, 2008, Bishop Davis designated him to become a Bishop. In August, 2009, Pastor Keith Thomas was consecrated to the Sacred Office of Bishop.

Through prayer and consecration, the congregation of Beulah Tabernacle moved to a new level along with the elevation of our Pastor, and began to strive for excellence. Bishop Keith Thomas had a vision to extend the ministry in a more excellent manner, and was in need of additional space for outreach, classrooms and offices. By faith, he began praying about a larger facility to carry out his vision.

The "Favor of God" blessed us to move into the beautiful and spacious church building at 3400 State Road, Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania and as we dedicate this building to the Lord, we rededicate our lives to Him to continue in Prayer, Power and Praise as we "Display His Splendor.
